How our Thought Life can Enhance or Destroy our Health and Wellbeing

Can our Thought Life Enhance or Destroy our Health and Wellbeing. A week ago I was listening to a group of women who were telling about a conference they had attended in London, and how intrigued they were with what one of the speakers had told them about the importance of our thought life on our bodies.

In a way as a Bible Believing  Christian I really knew this, and in some ways I try to put this into practice by not allowing myself to have unforgiveness to anyone, by dealing with angry thoughts as soon as I realize I am thinking them, simply by asking Father God to bless the situation and smooth it all out, and it is wonderful how quickly I do manage to get rid of the angry thoughts.  However reading Dr Caroline Leaf’s article on her website I realize how often I do think negative thoughts, especially as I can be judgemental and critical to both myself and others, and that gives cause for concern as according to Dr Caroline Leaf these thoughts can be destructive and can ultimately give me serious health problems.

I love what Dr Leaf says on how we build thoughts, that and I quote ‘thoughts and memories look like trees and are called neurons or nerve cells. You build a double memory of everything as a mirror image of each other. This means that the memory on the left side of the brain builds from the detail to the big picture; and the memory on the right side builds from the big picture to the detail. When you put these two perspectives of thought together, you get intelligent understanding taking place’, which in a way confirms the previous post by Dr Jill Bolte.

87% to 95% of the illnesses that plague us today are a direct result of our thought life. What we think about affects us physically and emotionally. It’s an epidemic of toxic emotions.
The average person has over 30,000 thoughts a day. Through an uncontrolled thought life, we create the conditions for illness; we make ourselves sick! Research shows that fear, all on its own, triggers more than 1,400 known physical and chemical responses and activates more than 30 different hormones. There are INTELLECTUAL and MEDICAL reasons to FORGIVE! Toxic waste generated by toxic thoughts causes the following illnesses: diabetes, cancer, asthma, skin problems and allergies to name just a few. Consciously control your thought life and start to detox your brain!  To read more more on this click on the link –

To know true well-ness or wellbeing is more than ust being fit and healthy, although that is an important part of it, but it is also down to our attitude to life, and how we think it how we are.  As a Christian I know that a leopard cannot change its spots, but as a Christian I am changed little by little by by both The Word and The Holy Spirit, and I am so grateful to my daughter who prayed for me to become a Christian.

My life has been totally changed since I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour into my life.  Prior to this momentous moment I was growing very bitter, anxious, fearful and unable to handle married life and teenage children and all the uproar that goes with ones family growing up.  But that all changed, very slowly, but definitely once I accepted Jesus and became determined to follow Him and give Him pre-eminence in my life.  Today I am so grateful that I did just that.

The 22 years I have followed Him have been a great adventure, and gets more fulfilling daily.  I am learning slowly, because I was extremely fearful, to trust in Him, and what a difference it is making to both me and my family.  I was given a promise from the Lord that ‘if I rejoice in all things, pray continuously, and in all things give thanks, He (God) will make all things new.  I have really struggled with this, but after watching the video I realize that that is indeed what happens.  ‘Fear not, for I am with thee, be not dismayed, for I am thy God, I will help thee, I will strengthen thee, I am holding thee with the strong right hand of My Righteousness.  Isaiah 41:10  A very precious Word that gives me strength and courage in those critical times.  If you want to read the book by Dr Caroline Leaf called Who Switched off My Brain than click on the link colored in yellow.  It not only describes how the negative thoughts affect our health and wellbeing, but how we can reverse the problem and become the people we are created to be.
