There are many views, many opinions on dieting, and sometimes it is bewildering to select the right one to do the job, ie help you lose weight. Actually most diets will do this for you, it isn’t the losing of weight that is the problem, it is keep ing the lost weight from coming back. Unfortunately if you are on a strict calorie controlled diet, you will eventually come back to eating ‘normally’, that is for you, how you were originally eating, and therein lies the problem. You will regain the lost pounds. The best way is to eat differently, but healthily, so you can keep the new eating lifestyle going for ever. The Meditarranean Diet, or way of life, seems to be the healthiest way of going about this very difficult subject of losing weight safely.

You musn’t lose sight of the simple fact, if you overeat you will gain weight, even if you are overeating healthy foods. Sadly that is my problem. My husband grows our own vegetables, and nothing can beat the flavour of food picked of the vine, and popped into the pot, and organically grown as well. But because you don’t want to waste his hard efforts in growing the food, and the children are living far away so you haven’t anyone to give the surplus to, it is easy to overeat, and sadly obesity is obesity, no matter how healthy the food is that one is eating. We have a great range of our own fruit trees, and berry plants as well. How does one resist picking a sun ripened plum and popping it into ones mouth. Not to mention all the raspberries, blueberries, alpine strawberries etc. But obesity makes one feel very lethargic, it is hard to do the exercise that one knows one needs to do, and life can easily become a drag. So do watch out, even if you are eating healthily, if you are gaining weight, you are eating too much. Address that before it becomes a problem, it is easier to do it then, rather than later when the weight is harder to shift.
